EPA & TECHNICAL TIPS: PROVIDING COST AND TIME SAVINGS FOR THE AUTOBODY INDUSTRY
In the collision repair market, quality and efficiency are key ingredients for any automotive repair process. For body shops, duplicating OEM seams can be difficult when trying to achieve a factory look. Finding the right balance of time and cost savings can be challenging.
One of the companies providing solutions to these problems is LORD Corporation, manufacturer of Fusor® Automotive Repair Adhesives. As a pioneer and global leader in the development and manufacture of highperformance bonding solutions for more than 50 years, LORD Corporation’s Fusor products have been a proven solution in the aftermarket for nearly 20 years. In addition to a wide range of acrylic, epoxy and urethane products for metal and plastic bonding and repair, Fusor offers a line of sealers, foams, guns and other accessories.
THE SOLUTION
The solution comes in the form of LORD Corporation’s recent launch of their new family of Fusor® High Definition (HD) Seam Sealers. Developed utilizing Silane Terminated Polymer (STP) technology, Fusor HD Seam Sealers
bring a new innovation to the seam sealing operation in the body shop. One of the key benefits of these seam
sealers is their ability to replace the need for as many as 4 or 5 products currently used in the body shop. The
capabilities of the STP technology provides superior performance as a beadable sealer, sprayable sealer, brushable
sealer, weldable sealer, sound deadening material and even an undercoating. In addition, these new sealers are
designed to be applied directly to bare metal, which eliminates the need for a primer - a time consuming and
costly step in the repair process.
Fusor HD Seam Sealers more closely match the OEM look because the STP material holds brush marks and spray
patterns making it is easier to duplicate what the factory has applied. They produce a look that is uniquely "high definition" in appearance.
Available in the four most common OEM colors of beige, white, gray and black, they can be applied using spray
equipment, standard caulking guns, brush applied or even welded through. Further, LORD Fusor HD meets the
requirements of STRSW weld sealing applications because the STP technology can be welded through with
minimal burn-back around the weld zone, while preserving the intended corrosion protection. Fusor HD Seam
Sealers have very low VOC content and no HAPS (Hazardous Air Pollutants), making them environmentally
friendly, and have a lifetime guarantee against corrosion protection.
